If there is one thing I have learned after years of eating keto, it is that the right sauce can completely transform a simple meal.
Grilled chicken, steak, burgers, roasted vegetables, eggs, and even keto desserts become much more exciting when you have a flavorful homemade sauce ready to go.
That is why I put together this growing collection of my keto sauce recipes.
From creamy Alfredo and burger sauce to smoky barbecue sauce, fresh cilantro garlic sauce, homemade enchilada sauces, and fruity dessert toppings, there is something here for just about every craving.
Best of all, making your own low-carb sauces gives you control over the ingredients. They are all sugar-free and gluten-free.
Whether you need a sauce for tonight's dinner, grilling, Taco Tuesday, burgers, the holidays, or your favorite keto dessert, I hope this collection helps you find a new favorite.
And be sure to check back because I will continue adding new homemade keto sauces to this collection as I create them.
Why Make Your Own Keto Sauces

Sauces are one of the easiest ways to add variety to keto meals, but store-bought options can sometimes contain more carbohydrates and gluten than you might expect.
Traditional barbecue sauces, fruit sauces, marinades, glazes, and other condiments often contain added sugar, syrups, flour, or starches.
Making your own means you know exactly what is going into your food while also having the freedom to adjust the seasonings, sweetness, and heat to suit your family's tastes.
Homemade keto sauces can also make meal planning much easier.
Keep one or two sauces in the refrigerator, and you can turn basic chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetables or desserts into completely different options throughout the week.
Creamy Keto And Carnivore Sauces
Sometimes you want something rich and creamy, and these sauces deliver plenty of flavor without flour or traditional high-carb thickeners.
Carnivore Alfredo Sauce

My Carnivore Alfredo Sauce is one of those recipes that proves you do not need a long ingredient list to make an incredibly rich and satisfying sauce.
Made primarily with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese, this creamy Alfredo sauce is naturally low in carbohydrates and can easily fit into a carnivore, ketovore, keto, or low-carb lifestyle.
It is delicious served over chicken, steak, seafood, Egglife noodles, spaghetti squash, or your favorite low-carb pasta alternative.
For those following a stricter carnivore approach, keep the seasoning simple. If you are eating ketovore or keto, you can easily add your favorite herbs and spices.
Keto Burger Sauce

A good burger deserves a really good sauce, and this Keto Burger Sauce is an easy way to take burgers, patties, and sandwiches to the next level.
This creamy, tangy, slightly sweet burger sauce gives you those familiar burger-joint flavors without loading the sauce with added sugar.
Of course, burgers are the obvious choice, but there are plenty of other ways to use it.
Try it with keto chicken patties, lettuce-wrapped burgers, cheeseburger bowls, grilled chicken, low-carb sandwiches, or as a dipping sauce for your favorite keto appetizers.
It is also the kind of sauce I love having in the refrigerator because a little drizzle can make leftovers feel like an entirely different meal.
Keto Enchilada Sauces And Mexican-Inspired Sauces
Mexican and Tex-Mex meals are some of my favorites, and homemade sauces make it possible to enjoy all those bold flavors while keeping the ingredients low in carbs and gluten-free.
Keto Green Enchilada Sauce

My homemade Keto Green Enchilada Sauce is packed with fresh Tex-Mex flavor and made with tomatillos, peppers, onion, garlic, and seasonings.
It is naturally gluten-free and made without the flour or starches that can sometimes appear in commercially prepared enchilada sauces.
Use it to make keto green chicken enchiladas, pour it over shredded chicken or pork, add it to casseroles, or spoon it over cauliflower rice bowls.
You can also control the heat depending on your family's preference by adjusting the jalapeño and Serrano peppers.
This is one of those sauces worth making ahead because having homemade green enchilada sauce waiting in the refrigerator makes putting together a flavorful keto Mexican meal much easier.
Keto Red Enchilada Sauce

Once you make enchilada sauce from scratch, you may have a hard time going back to the bottled version.
My Keto Red Enchilada Sauce uses dried ancho, guajillo, and arbol peppers along with tomatoes, onion, garlic, and broth to create a rich sauce packed with authentic flavor.
Instead of relying on flour to thicken the sauce, this version is naturally gluten-free and low in carbohydrates.
I use it for keto chicken enchiladas and keto beef enchiladas, but it is also delicious spooned over chicken, beef, cauliflower rice bowls, or your favorite low-carb Mexican dishes.
You can easily adjust the heat by changing the amount of arbol peppers you use.
Keto-Friendly Salsa, Chirmol

This Keto-Friendly Salsa is especially close to our hearts because it is based on the Guatemalan chirmol that Randy grew up enjoying.
It combines tomatoes, roasted tomatillos, jalapeños, cilantro, onion, lime juice, and salt for a fresh salsa that works with so many different meals.
Serve it with grilled steak, chicken, fish, or eggs. It is also delicious over a taco salad or alongside pork rinds for dipping.
One of my favorite things about homemade salsa is how easily you can control the heat. Remove the jalapeño seeds for a milder version or leave them in if your family enjoys things spicy.
Savory Keto Sauces And Condiments
These homemade keto sauces are perfect for burgers, grilling, chicken, pork, and all sorts of easy low-carb meals.
Easy Keto BBQ Sauce

If you want a classic sauce that belongs in every keto kitchen, start with my Easy Keto BBQ Sauce.
This homemade sugar-free barbecue sauce is sweet, smoky, and tangy, yet takes only a few minutes to prepare.
I love how versatile it is.
Use it for grilled chicken, burgers, wings, pork chops, ribs, meatballs, pulled pork, or simply as a dipping sauce.
Making your own BBQ sauce also gives you much more control over the sweetness compared to many traditional bottled barbecue sauces.
Keto Spicy Cilantro Garlic Sauce

Fresh cilantro, lime, garlic, jalapeño, mayonnaise, and olive oil come together to make this bright and creamy Keto Spicy Cilantro Garlic Sauce.
It is one of those recipes that can make even the simplest protein taste special.
Drizzle it over grilled chicken or steak, spoon it onto tacos and fajitas, use it as a salad dressing, or serve it alongside roasted vegetables.
Although the name says spicy, you are completely in control of the heat. Remove the jalapeño seeds for a milder sauce or leave the jalapeño out entirely if you simply want that fresh cilantro, garlic, and lime flavor.
Would you like to save this?
Keto Hot Dog Onion Sauce

My Keto Hot Dog Onion Sauce has a special place in this collection because it brings back some wonderful childhood food memories.
I was born in Brooklyn, and although my family moved to Florida when I was young, those New York hot dog cart flavors certainly left their mark.
This low-carb version recreates that familiar sweet and savory New York-style onion sauce without all the added sugar found in traditional versions.
Hot dogs are the obvious pairing, but do not stop there.
Try this flavorful onion sauce over sausages, burgers, grilled meats, or anything that could use a sweet and savory kick.
Sweet And Fruity Keto Sauces
Keto sauces are not limited to savory meals.
Having a few sugar-free fruit sauces in your recipe collection makes it easy to turn keto cheesecake, pancakes, waffles, yogurt, pound cake, or a scoop of low-carb ice cream into something extra special.
Keto Strawberry Sauce

You only need a handful of ingredients and a few minutes to make my Keto Strawberry Sauce.
Fresh strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar substitute come together for a simple fruit sauce bursting with strawberry flavor.
Spoon it over keto pancakes or waffles, swirl it into full-fat Greek yogurt, add it to a parfait, or use it as a topping for keto cheesecake, pound cake, or ice cream.
It is an easy recipe to make ahead and keep refrigerated whenever you want a quick fruity topping.
Keto Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce has always been important in our family, especially during the holidays, so creating a keto version was a must.
My Keto Cranberry Sauce combines cranberries with sugar substitute, lemon juice, orange extract, and fresh orange zest for that wonderful balance of sweet, tart, and citrusy flavors.
And you certainly do not have to wait until Thanksgiving to make it.
Serve it alongside turkey, chicken, or pork, spoon it over a keto cheesecake, or use it to add a tart cranberry twist to other low-carb desserts.
Because frozen cranberries work beautifully, I like keeping bags tucked away in the freezer so we can enjoy this sauce beyond the holiday season.
Keto Stewed Rhubarb

This Keto Stewed Rhubarb is a simple sugar-free rhubarb sauce with a bright, tangy flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.
Fresh rhubarb is cooked down with a keto-friendly sweetener until it becomes soft, spoonable, and perfect for using as a topping or fruit sauce.
Serve it over keto cheesecake, pancakes, waffles, pound cake, yogurt, or low-carb ice cream. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a simple sugar-free rhubarb compote.
Because rhubarb is naturally tart, this is a great recipe when you want a fruit sauce that is not overly sweet and pairs especially well with rich keto desserts.
What Makes A Sauce Keto-Friendly?
There is not one ingredient that automatically makes a sauce keto-friendly. It comes down to the ingredients and carbohydrate content of the finished recipe.
When I create a low-carb sauce, some ingredients I pay particular attention to include:
- Added sugars and syrups
- Ketchup and tomato products
- Sweetened bottled condiments
- Flour
- Cornstarch
- Other high-carb thickeners
Sugar can show up in places you might not expect, especially in bottled barbecue sauces, glazes, teriyaki-style sauces, and condiments.
Making sauces at home allows you to choose the ingredients that fit your needs and adjust the recipe to your family's tastes.
And remember, keto-friendly certainly does not have to mean bland.
Fresh herbs, citrus, garlic, peppers, spices, vinegar, butter, cheese, cream, and other low-carb ingredients can create an incredible amount of flavor.
Easy Ways To Use Keto Sauces For Meal Planning
One of the easiest ways to keep keto meals from becoming repetitive is to change the sauce instead of changing the entire meal.
Prepare several servings of chicken, steak, pork, burgers, or another favorite protein at the beginning of the week.
One night, serve it with cilantro garlic sauce. Another night, add keto BBQ sauce. Turn another serving into a Tex-Mex meal with green enchilada sauce or salsa.
Even burgers can taste completely different depending on whether you use burger sauce, BBQ sauce, cilantro garlic sauce, or hot dog onion sauce.
The same strategy works for desserts.
A basic keto cheesecake, pancake, waffle, or pound cake can feel completely different when topped with fresh strawberry sauce or cranberry sauce.
Sometimes keeping keto interesting really can be as simple as changing the sauce.
Frequently Asked Questions About Keto Sauces
Absolutely. The important thing is to look at the ingredients and carbohydrate content of the particular sauce you are using.
Homemade sauces make this much easier because you control exactly what goes into the recipe.
Added sugars, syrups, flour, cornstarch, and other thickeners can quickly increase the carbohydrate count of a sauce.
This is one reason reading ingredient lists and nutrition labels on bottled sauces is important when following a low-carb diet.
Many can.
The exact storage time depends on the ingredients used, so follow the storage instructions included with each individual recipe.
Having one or two sauces already made can make weeknight keto meals much easier.
There are so many possibilities.
Savory sauces work well with:
Chicken
Beef
Pork
Seafood
Burgers
Eggs
Roasted vegetables
Cauliflower rice
Keto tacos and keto fajitas
Sweet keto sauces can be served with pancakes, waffles, cheesecake, pound cake, Greek yogurt, and keto ice cream.
Not necessarily.
A product labeled sugar-free can still contain carbohydrates or ingredients you may prefer to limit. Checking both the ingredient list and nutritional information is always a good idea.
Keep Your Keto Meals Full Of Flavor
If your keto meals have started feeling repetitive, you may not need an entirely new meal plan. Sometimes all you need is a really good sauce.
From creamy Carnivore Alfredo and Keto Burger Sauce to smoky BBQ sauce, homemade red and green enchilada sauces, fresh cilantro garlic sauce, and fruity dessert toppings, these easy keto sauce recipes give you plenty of ways to change things up while keeping your meals low in carbs and gluten-free.
And this collection is just getting started.
I will continue adding new homemade keto and low-carb sauce recipes as I develop them, so be sure to return whenever you need a little inspiration for your next meal.
