Pancakes are one breakfast favorite you definitely do not have to give up just because you are watching your carbs.

Over the years, I have created several keto pancake recipes that let us enjoy everything from a simple stack of fluffy pancakes to fun seasonal flavors and even a giant skillet-baked Dutch baby.

Every recipe in this collection is low in carbs, gluten-free, and made without added sugar. You will find pancakes made with coconut flour, cream cheese, berries, pumpkin, chocolate chips, and even a flour-free carnivore option.

Whether you are planning a weekend breakfast, putting together a special brunch, or simply want something other than eggs in the morning, there is a low-carb pancake here for you.

Be sure to also visit my complete collection of keto breakfast recipes when you need even more ideas for starting your day.

Easy Low-Carb Pancake Recipes

Traditional pancakes rely heavily on wheat flour and sugar, two ingredients that can quickly raise the carb count.

These recipes take a different approach.

Depending on the recipe, I use ingredients such as:

  • Coconut flour
  • Golden flax meal
  • Psyllium husk powder
  • Cream cheese
  • Eggs
  • Almond meal
  • Collagen powder
  • Sugar substitutes

These ingredients allow us to recreate the satisfying texture of pancakes without traditional flour or added sugar.

Several of these recipes also come together right in a blender, which makes homemade pancakes much easier on busy mornings.

Not sure where to begin? Here are a few quick suggestions.

  • For a fruity stack: Keto Blueberry Pancakes
  • For chocolate lovers: Keto Chocolate Chip Pancakes
  • For fall: Keto Pumpkin Pancakes
  • For carrot cake fans: Keto Carrot Cake Pancakes
  • For brunch: Keto Dutch Baby Pancake
  • For a sweet or savory option: Keto Johnny Cakes
  • For a flour-free pancake: Carnivore Dutch Baby Pancake

Now that you know what makes these low-carb pancakes work, it is time to find the one you want to make first.

Best Keto Pancake Recipes

Keto Blueberry Pancakes With Coconut Flour

These keto blueberry pancakes are light, fluffy, and filled with juicy blueberries.

Made with coconut flour, cream cheese, eggs, and heavy cream, they have a soft, satisfying texture without needing almond flour or wheat flour.

The batter comes together easily in a blender, making these a great choice when you want a homemade low-carb breakfast without spending all morning in the kitchen.

Fresh blueberries give every bite just enough natural sweetness. Serve your stack with butter, sugar-free maple syrup, or a little whipped cream for a breakfast that feels extra special.

Keto Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Chocolate for breakfast? Absolutely.

These keto chocolate chip pancakes turn a classic childhood breakfast into a low-carb treat by using coconut flour and sugar-free chocolate chips.

Cream cheese adds richness to the batter while helping create tender pancakes that are filling enough for breakfast but delicious enough to double as dessert.

Since the batter is made in the blender, cleanup is also kept to a minimum.

Top them with butter, sugar-free syrup, whipped cream, or a few extra sugar-free chocolate chips.

Keto Pumpkin Pancakes

When pumpkin season arrives, these keto pumpkin pancakes deserve a spot on your breakfast table.

They combine pure pumpkin puree with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and maple flavor for a stack filled with warm fall flavor.

The recipe uses coconut flour along with golden flax meal and psyllium husk powder to give the pancakes structure while keeping them tender.

Each three-inch pancake has approximately 2.3 grams of net carbs before toppings.

Serve them simply with butter and sugar-free maple syrup, or add the optional maple cream cheese icing when you are making them for Thanksgiving breakfast, Christmas morning, or a special fall brunch.

And because they freeze well, you can make an extra batch and keep them ready for another morning.

Keto Carrot Cake Pancakes

If carrot cake happens to be one of your favorite desserts, wait until you turn those flavors into breakfast.

These keto carrot cake pancakes are made with coconut flour, fresh grated carrots, shredded coconut, cream cheese, and warm spices.

At approximately 1.7 grams of net carbs per three-inch pancake, they give you that familiar carrot cake flavor without traditional flour or added sugar.

The optional maple cream cheese topping makes them especially delicious for brunch, although a simple pat of butter or drizzle of sugar-free maple syrup works beautifully too.

They can also be made ahead and frozen, which means carrot cake-inspired pancakes do not have to be reserved for weekends.

Keto Dutch Baby Pancake

For something completely different from your usual stack, make my keto Dutch baby pancake.

A Dutch baby is essentially a cross between a pancake, crepe, and popover. Instead of standing at the stove flipping individual pancakes, the batter is poured into a hot skillet and baked in the oven.

The result is one large, impressive pancake with golden, puffed edges and a tender center.

My low-carb version uses coconut flour, cream cheese, eggs, and heavy cream, and the batter comes together quickly in the blender.

Bring the whole skillet to the table and serve it with fresh berries, a squeeze of lemon juice, confectioners' sugar substitute, whipped cream, or sugar-free maple syrup.

It is one of my favorite choices when I want breakfast or brunch to feel a little more special without making anything complicated.

Keto Johnny Cakes

Johnny cakes are not your typical breakfast pancake, but they absolutely deserve a place in this collection.

Traditionally made with cornmeal, Johnny cakes are also known as hoecakes or pan-fried cornbread cakes.

My keto Johnny cakes give you that familiar cornmeal-style experience without actually using cornmeal.

What makes them especially versatile is that you can take them in either a sweet or savory direction.

For breakfast, serve them warm with butter and sugar-free maple syrup.

For a savory meal, pair them with eggs, bacon, chili, soup, or your favorite low-carb main dish.

If you love cornbread flavors, this is the pancake recipe I would try first.

For my carnivore and ketovore friends, I also have a carnivore Dutch baby pancake that skips keto flour altogether.

Instead, this skillet pancake uses ingredients such as eggs, full-fat cream cheese, heavy cream, and collagen powder.

It bakes up with golden edges and a soft, custardy center while remaining extremely low in carbohydrates.

This is a great option when you are keeping your ingredient list particularly simple or want a break from almond flour, coconut flour, nuts, and seeds.

Even if you are not following a strict carnivore diet, it makes a satisfying keto breakfast or brunch.

Bonus: Keto Waffles That Can Also Be Made As Pancakes

My easy keto waffles can do double duty.

The batter uses almond flour, coconut flour, cream cheese, and psyllium husk powder and can be cooked in a waffle maker for a crisp exterior or poured onto a griddle to make low-carb pancakes.

This makes the recipe especially handy when some people at the breakfast table want waffles and others want pancakes.

Tips For Making The Best Keto Pancakes

Keto pancake batter does not always behave exactly like traditional wheat flour batter. A few simple tips can make a big difference.

Measure coconut flour carefully. Coconut flour absorbs a tremendous amount of moisture. Adding even a little too much can produce dry pancakes or batter that becomes far too thick.

Do not substitute coconut flour and almond flour equally. These two keto flours behave very differently and cannot usually be exchanged cup for cup.

Keep your pancakes smaller. Smaller pancakes are generally easier to flip and give the center enough time to cook without overbrowning the outside.

Watch your heat. Many low-carb pancake recipes cook best over medium or medium-low heat. Turning the heat too high can brown the outside before the middle is finished.

Follow the resting instructions. If a recipe calls for allowing the batter to rest, do not skip it. Coconut flour, golden flax meal, and psyllium need time to absorb liquid.

Adjust thick batter slowly. Keto pancake batter is often thicker than traditional pancake batter. When a recipe allows you to thin it, add the liquid gradually rather than pouring in too much at once.

Keto Pancake Topping Ideas

The right toppings can completely change your stack.

Try your keto pancakes with:

  • Butter
  • Sugar-free maple syrup
  • Fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries
  • Sugar-free whipped cream
  • Cream cheese topping
  • Confectioners' sugar substitute
  • Cinnamon butter
  • Sugar-free chocolate chips
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Unsweetened nut butter
  • Bacon or breakfast sausage

Just remember to account for your toppings when calculating the total net carbs in your breakfast.

Can You Freeze Keto Pancakes?

All these keto pancake recipes are excellent for meal prep.

Just allow them to cool completely and then place parchment paper between the pancakes before transferring them to an airtight freezer container or freezer bag.

This makes it much easier to remove only the number of pancakes you need.

Depending on the individual recipe, they can be reheated in a toaster, toaster oven, warm skillet, or low oven.

Always refer to the storage directions in each individual recipe for the best results.

Are Pancakes Keto-Friendly?

Traditional pancakes are not keto-friendly because they are made with wheat flour and often contain added sugar.

Keto pancakes replace those high-carb ingredients with low-carb alternatives such as coconut flour, almond flour, flax meal, cream cheese, eggs, psyllium husk, or collagen.

Sugar substitutes are also used in place of regular sugar.

The exact carbohydrate count will vary depending on the recipe and toppings, so always check the nutritional information included with each recipe.

What Is The Best Flour For Keto Pancakes?

There is no single keto flour that works best for every pancake recipe.

Coconut flour creates a tender pancake when it is paired with enough eggs and moisture, but it is extremely absorbent.

Almond flour generally produces a slightly different texture and requires very different proportions.

You will notice that many of my pancake recipes use coconut flour because I like the texture it produces when combined with cream cheese and eggs.

The important thing is to follow the flour called for in the individual recipe rather than attempting a direct substitution.

Why Do Keto Pancakes Fall Apart?

Low-carb pancakes do not contain the gluten that gives traditional pancakes their structure.

This means they may need a little extra time to set before they are flipped.

Keep the pancakes fairly small, cook them over moderate heat, and wait until the edges look set before sliding your spatula underneath.

Ingredients such as eggs, cream cheese, flax meal, and psyllium husk can also help give low-carb pancake batter the structure it needs.
