Easy Keto Cream Cheese Cookies

These easy keto cream cheese cookies are deliciously simple to make and have a tender, soft-baked cookie texture that melts in your mouth.

It’s a recipe for low-carb cream cheese cookies that are grain-free, nut-free, egg-free, sugar-free, and keto-friendly!

These cream cheese keto cookies are made with simple ingredients like coconut flour, cream cheese, and butter to mimic traditional cream cheese cookies.

If you’re a fan of soft cookies, this is the keto cookie recipe you should make the next time you need to silence your sweet tooth.

They are not only delicious, but they also happen to be egg-free and nut-free for those who want a recipe for easy keto cookies that use just a few essential keto-friendly ingredients to make a delicious keto cookie.

And since one of those ingredients is coconut flour, those in the keto community who have nut allergies can enjoy this cookie, too.

The recipe does not call for any form of egg because it gets all the moisture it needs from the generous amount of cream cheese and butter.

It’s my desire to be able to offer more allergy-friendly low-carb keto recipes since I know many who come to this lifestyle are also dealing with food intolerance.

My recipe for cream cheese coconut flour cookies turned out exactly as I had hoped. Not only are they delicious, but, as an added bonus, they are very low in carbs.

Each cookie has only 1.5 net carbs per cookie, which makes it a keto cream cheese cookie recipe that fits your daily macros seamlessly.

This is due to the fact that I used coconut flour, a tremendously low-carb keto-friendly flour substitute.

Using coconut flour instead of almond flour makes it a little higher in fiber and lower in carbs compared to other keto flours on the market.

Avoiding foods for allergies or dietary reasons can sometimes be overwhelming and frustrating.

This is why these cream cheese keto cookies made with coconut flour and without eggs can serve as an option for those doing a keto diet.

When I first embarked on this keto lifestyle, I had a difficult time finding exactly what foods I could enjoy without worrying about getting kicked out of ketosis.

It’s why I started sharing my keto recipes. I wanted to give you a recipe that didn’t use eggs, grains, sugar, or nuts but would give you delicious cookies you would be proud to share with the whole family.

These low-carb cream cheese cookies not only accomplished my goal, but they are so yummy that even those who don’t have to avoid allergens will enjoy them.

Best Sugar-Substitutes For Sugar-Free Cream Cheese Cookies

My top choice for these keto-friendly cream cheese cookies is a monk fruit and erythritol blend.

My personal favorite is Lakanto’s brand. It’s great for anyone doing a ketogenic diet.

But you can also use Swerve, another granular sweetener that has erythritol.

You could also use the stevia and erythritol-based brand Pyure for most of my baked goods.

However, if using Pyure, you will want to use half the amount called for in this recipe since it’s a much sweeter choice.

But if stevia is your preferred choice, then feel free to use the Pyure brand.

If you can’t easily source a more natural sugar substitute, you can also use Splenda with great success.

If using Splenda, it needs to be the one that has a bulking agent. This is the one that comes in large bags. I don’t recommend Splenda Bake because it’s actually a half-sugar, half-sucralose product.

When it comes to vanilla glaze, you will have to use a confectioner’s sugar substitute. Both Lakanto and Swerve have great ones.

How To Make Keto Cream Cheese Cookies

To make these keto cream cheese sugar cookies, you’ll start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and lining a large cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly buttering the cookie sheet.

Then, in a small bowl, carefully measure the dry ingredients. It’s essential when measuring coconut flour that you do not pack the flour into a measuring cup.

I like adding it by tablespoons into the measuring cup to ensure it’s correct. Once the coconut flour is measured, add the baking powder and salt to the bowl and combine well.

Next, using an electric mixer in a large bowl or stand-up mixer, beat the butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar substitute on the high setting for 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.

Be sure to scrape the bowl with a spatula a couple of times to ensure the mixture is fully incorporated.

Once the wet ingredients are combined, reduce the speed to medium and begin to add the coconut flour, a few tablespoons at a time.

Combine the mixture well, being sure to scrape the bowl until it is fully combined.

Then, using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, add the cookie dough balls onto the parchment-lined baking sheet about an inch apart, and gently press down on each cookie with your fingers to flatten slightly.

Bake the cookies for about 18–20 minutes, until lightly browned around the edges. Transfer to a wire rack and allow the cookies to cool before adding the icing.

I recommend making the sugar-free icing while the cookies cool. Do not make the icing before to ensure it doesn’t begin to set, and make it difficult to ice the cookies.

To make the keto-friendly vanilla icing, combine the powdered sugar-free sweetener and salt with the two tablespoons of heavy cream and the vanilla extract.

If the icing is too thick, you can thin it down with a little more heavy cream, up to 3 tablespoons. Then, add a small dollop of icing to each cookie and allow the icing to set before eating or storing.

Store the cookies in the refrigerator in an airtight container in the freezer for up to five days or three weeks.

Customizing Keto Coconut Flour Cream Cheese Cookies

What’s also great about these soft-baked keto cookies is how simple they are to customize.  This makes them a great year-round recipe, but especially welcomed during the busy holiday when you make lots of keto Christmas cookies.

Swap out the vanilla extract in both the cookie dough and the icing with lemon extract or orange extract for a citrus twist.

Add 1/2 cup of sugar-free chocolate chips for a hint of chocolate flavor. Or even an almond extract for different ways to customize the recipe to your liking. Really, the sky’s the limit with this easy recipe.

This recipe was originally published in 2018, but I felt it needed a little extra tweaking.

The only change I made was to eliminate 1/4 cup of unsweetened coconut flakes and add vanilla icing to the top of each cookie. I also made the cookies slightly larger since they are so low in carbs.

I was looking to use my coconut flour so tried this. Sometimes the first try at a new recipe is not successful but these were great. The only thing you should adjust is the sugar amount. I reduced the Lakanto Monkfruit to 3/4 cup but next time i will use only 1/2 cup. It was very sweet. The butter flavor comes through like shortbread (I think) and also similar texture and it melts in your mouth. I also added 1/3 cup of Red Mill shredded unsweetened coconut. So good! I did not use a glaze, as already very sweet. Next time I will try that. Oh, I used a 1 3/4 TBLS scoop and baked 15 minutes. Thank you for this!

Hi Suzanne, yes it's easy to lower the sweetener to your preference.

I’ve used your recipe to make the cookies as you’ve listed, added Lily’s milk chocolate chips, added the chips and took out the coconut and added sugar free lime jello, choc zero white chocolate and all of these variations have turned out delicious. I always add about 6-8tbsp of hwc though otherwise they are dry and crack. Such a good base recipe that is awesome to experiment with. Thank you so much!

Can I use desiccated coconut instead of flakes?

Hilda Solares

Wednesday 3rd of June 2020

Hi Mariam, I believe that using desiccated coconut could risk making the cookie to dry. If you want to try I would only use 1/2 the amount called for.
