Easy Keto Flatbread

Easy Keto Flatbread Recipe
Easy Keto Flatbread Recipe

Creating an easy low-carb flatbread was a must for our family since it’s a type of bread that was enjoyed prior to going keto.

I knew that in order to get this recipe right I would have to create a recipe that produced a soft, flexible, and bread-like texture.

Since no gluten or wheat is used in this recipe I had to rely on other ingredients that worked well in the past.

It’s why the almond flour flatbread also uses a small amount of golden flaxseed meal, psyllium husk powder, and xantham gum. What is a bonus is that using those ingredients makes it higher in fiber.

Making this gluten-free flatbread is pretty straightforward. If baking in the oven, start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees. Then line two baking sheets with a silicone mat or parchment paper.

In a large bowl, you’ll combine the almond flour, flaxseed meal, psyllium powder, xanthan gum, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and baking powder.

Then add the hot water, olive oil, and egg. Mix the dough well with a silicone spatula.

Next, divide the dough into six equal portions and cover with a wet paper towel. Between two pieces of parchment paper, roll the dough with a rolling pin.

Then place the flatbreads on the prepared baking pans. Use a pastry brush to brush each flatbread with olive oil.

Sprinkle the sea salt flakes on the bread and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until lightly brown.

Feel free to serve the flatbread straight from the oven or at room temperature.

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.
