I had attempted to make keto chocolate chip cookies before, but the first batch was not up to my standards.

Just because I’m on a ketogenic diet doesn’t mean I can’t have a keto cookie that will fool my tastebuds.

My second attempt proved to have the best results in creating the ultimate ketosis chocolate chip cookie recipe.

It’s a winning recipe, and I can’t wait for you to try it!

The following are all the ingredients you’ll need: Note that the full printable recipe card is at the bottom of the page.

How To Make Keto Chocolate Chip Cookies

The first step in making these cookies is creaming in a large bowl the softened butter, sugar-free sweeteners, and sugar-free syrup. Making sure it’s adequately mixed will guarantee the texture is spot-on.

Then, to this mixture, you’ll add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

You’ll then sprinkle the gelatin powder into the cookie dough and combine well.

Then, it’s just a matter of adding the dry ingredients—almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, and salt—to the wet ingredients.

Then, fold in the sugar-free chocolate chips and walnuts.

Bake the cookies on a parchment-lined cookie sheet in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 12–15 minutes.

For a chewier cookie, bake for no more than 12 minutes. For a crispier cookie, bake for about 15 minutes. This gives you options.

Best Keto Sweetener Options

This recipe uses a combination of sugar substitutes, both a white granulated monk fruit sweetener and a brown sugar substitute.

My top choice for a white granulated sweetener is a monk fruit/erythritol blend, Lakanto, but you can also use Swervean erythritol sugar substitute.

You could also use the stevia and erythritol-based brand Pyure. However, if using Pyure, you will want to use half the amount called for in this recipe since it’s a much sweeter choice.

Regarding what brown sugar substitute to use, I recommend Swerve’s Brown Sugar or Sukrin Gold.

I find that these two brands have the best texture for when you want chewy keto chocolate chip cookies.

The use of brown sugar substitute gives a depth of flavor that you would otherwise miss, so I wouldn’t omit it if you want to ensure the same results.

Best Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips

When choosing which chocolate chips to use, I love Lily’s semi-sweet chocolate chips for their lovely chocolate flavor and melting point.

If you prefer a more intense chocolate flavor, you could also use Lily’s dark chocolate chips. Either one works beautifully and gives consistent results.

But if you can’t get your hands on Lily’s chocolate for this keto recipe, you can also use Hershey’s sugar-free chocolate chips.

In the end, I went for a combination of both almond and coconut flour in this recipe. It’s what ensured the perfect flavor and texture.

You may have noticed from the ingredient list that I also decided to add a tablespoon of gelatin powder to help give the cookies a little more of a chewy structure. Guess what? It worked!

I also added a secret ingredient that I felt would further enhance the flavor of these low-carb cookies. Any guesses on what that was?

Well, these keto chocolate chip cookies include an added tablespoon of sugar-free maple syrup. Why? I was trying to get the brown sugar flavor profile without having to use the extra carbs from molasses.

Oh, boy, was this the right choice!

It made a massive difference in creating the proper keto chocolate chip cookie flavor.
