Cinnamon Toast Crunch Keto Cereal

This keto cinnamon toast crunch cereal is a crispy, crunchy, and tasty recipe for anyone doing keto who is missing cereal. It’s sugar-free, grain-free, gluten-free, and just flat-out delicious!

Giving up cereal can be a challenge for many people on the keto diet. I totally get it since it’s a very convenient breakfast that many of us grew up on.

One of the primary reasons I share my keto recipes is to address cravings that can derail the best of intentions.

I aim to create a keto-friendly option for whatever food you may be missing, hoping to make the lifestyle doable.

Fortunately, you do not have to say no to cereals forever with a keto breakfast cereal recipe like this.

The good news is that with this low-carb cinnamon toast cereal, you can enjoy a bowl of cereal without having to worry about the carbs or gluten.

It’s even a keto cereal that the children will enjoy. Yes, even the pickiest child will embrace this tasty, low-carb cereal.

Do you know what else is great about making your own cereal? You’ll know exactly what ingredients are in it, compared to sugary competitor options that are loaded with the cheapest of ingredients.

This gluten-free cereal recipe uses the highest quality ingredients, like almond flour, golden flax meal, psyllium husk powder, natural sweeteners, and cinnamon powder, for great breakfast food you will be proud to serve.

Bravenly premium supplements

The use of these ingredients makes it a great option for anyone on a low carb diet and for those looking for healthy gut recipes since it is high in fiber.

Clocking in at 2.6 g net carbs and 8.4 g fiber, it’s the best cereal, and your taste buds will thank you.

As a fan of adding fiber to our diet, I have an entire collection of keto high fiber recipes you should also check out.

The ridiculous amount of sugar, gluten, and carbs in the majority of cereals makes it a no-no while doing keto.

Even the cereals that claim to be healthy are packed with too much so-called “natural” sugar to be prohibitive.

Do you know that there are now quite a few low-carb cereal products you can buy? But I warn you that you will need to carefully examine the labels since many use fillers that can spell trouble while doing keto.

Unfortunately, some brands that claim to be low carb cereals, such as Catalina Crunch cereals, use ingredients like potato fiber, non-GMO corn fiber, and tapioca flour, all of which are not true keto-friendly options.

In contrast, our recipe uses natural flavors and specially curated natural ingredients for a great alternative to gluten and sugar-based cereals and for a true keto cereal.

Let’s face it: although when starting a keto diet, your best bet is to stick with the basics like eggs and bacon, the best of us can get bored. This is why it’s nice to have a keto-friendly cereal choice.

Having several breakfast options will make sure that you can follow the keto diet consistently.

The other fact is that the few keto cereal brands that are on the market are quite expensive.

I get that this is the case because the ingredients are generally higher in quality than, say, a regular box of cereal, which uses the cheapest ingredients, and because the demand is still low.

But it’s kind of hard to pay over ten dollars for a box that you might not even like or that could still cause your glucose levels to rise. Who’s with me on this?

That’s why creating your own homemade keto cereal is a practical solution for those who are craving cereal while doing keto. Granted, it will not be as easy as pouring cereal out of a box to make your own cereal.

The truth is, making your own cereal is quite fun. Why not include the kids in the process and teach them the value of knowing what’s in their cereal?

A sugary big brand may have the sweet taste children prefer, but at what cost? We know that sugars trigger sugar receptors; is this the way children or adults should start their day?

What I recommend is that you make a batch or two during the weekend, and this way, you can enjoy a bowl of cereal during the busy week when you need a quick breakfast option.

Plus, remember, making your own cereal also makes for a healthier afternoon snack.

How To Make Keto Cereal

When I set out to make a keto-friendly cereal, I wanted to ensure it had a great crunch. After all, the texture is just as important as nailing the flavor.

I went for a cinnamon toast flavor because it’s a flavor many enjoy and what my daughter requested.

You should know by now that this momma aims to always give her children recipes that will make this lifestyle easier.

I was able to achieve the right texture by using a combination of almond flour, golden flaxseed meal, psyllium husk powder, and a little xanthan gum as the base.

This combo gave the cereal the crunch and mouthfeel I was after. The other benefit of using these ingredients is that it also makes this cereal high in fiber. Isn’t that cool?

You’ll begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Then, regrind the golden flaxseed meal. I use a coffee or spice grinder to do this step.

Then, in a medium-sized bowl, combine the almond flour, golden flaxseed meal, psyllium husk powder, xanthan gum, baking powder, sugar substitute, cinnamon powder, and salt.

Add the warm water and two eggs to the dry ingredients, and knead the dough thoroughly.

Next, divide the dough into four equal parts and roll them out between two parchment sheets until they are 1/8th of an inch thick.

I then use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to slice the dough into 1-inch square pieces.

Place the squares on a large silicone or parchment-lined cookie sheet pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. You may need to bake the cereal in batches, depending on the size of your oven.

While the cereal is baking, prepare the cinnamon/sweetener coating by combining cinnamon powder, granulated sugar substitute, and confectioner’s sugar substitute in a large bowl.

Once the squares are fully baked and cooled, toss them in the cinnamon/sweetener topping in a large bowl.

Store your keto cereal in an airtight container on the kitchen counter or in a cool, dry place for up to five days.

Keto Cinnamon Toast Cereal With Almond Milk

In case you are not aware, you will have to swap out cow’s milk with a milk substitute like almond or coconut milk.

This is because cow’s milk is high in carbs and will most definitely affect your blood sugar levels and kick you out of ketosis.

Almond milk is a little thicker than regular milk and has a nutty flavor. While coconut milk has that bright white color that fools your eyes into thinking it’s regular milk, it is not as thick as almond milk.

So you have a few choices. The other thing to keep in mind is that this keto cinnamon toast cereal tastes flat-out delicious without any milk alternatives, too.

It’s a great choice for when you want to snack on something on the crunchy side.
