Have you ever wondered why some people seem blessed with a fast metabolism and others seem cursed with a slow one? Today’s post is going to look at way you can naturally speed up your metabolism.

No one wants to be a hater right? Well, it’s sometimes hard to ignore that some people are just blessed with a fast metabolism. You know them, they are the ones that can eat just about anything and remain rail thin. I’ve learned several tips you can easily implement to help speed up your metabolism.

Can We Speed Up Our Metabolism?

The question is, can we do anything to remedy a slow metabolism? Having a slow metabolism can be frustrating. Especially when it feels like just looking at food causes you to gain weight.

I know that after I turned 40 my fast metabolism drastically changed. To say it was frustrating to see my metabolism tank, is an understatement.


It seemed that the more I tried to lose weight by reducing my calories the more weight I was gaining. It took me awhile to figure out what was happening, but once I did I was able to shed the extra weight. You too can speed up your metabolism by implementing some of these tips.

My 10 Tips To Help Speed Up Your Metabolism Naturally

1.Add More Spice 

By adding all forms of capsaicin, hot peppers you help raise your body temperature, which in turns speeds up your metabolism.

Not only does it raise your metabolic rate, but some studies indicate that spicy foods acts as a temporary appetite suppressant.

How cool is that? Other heat-producing spices like ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric prove similar results. So go and explore more spices and begin to reap the benefits.

2. Build Your Muscles

After a session of body building your metabolism gets ramped up. When you have more muscles you have a higher resting metabolic rate compared to those who do not.

3. Eat More Protein

By including more protein into your diet you assist your body in building those metabolism boosting muscles. Crowd out the junk with real protein, remove the empty carbs and allow your muscles to grow.

4. Drink More Water

Our bodies need water to process calories. If we are even slightly dehydrated we will slow down our metabolism. This was a hard habit for me to master. Thankfully, today I am drinking lots of water and it’s paying off.

5. Work out

Aerobic exercise is key to fueling our metabolism. Can I tell you that even just walking for 30 minutes a day will boost your metabolism? Yes, indeed! So get yourself some walking/running shoes and get moving.

6. Get Some Sun

Exposure to light in the morning may help keep you slim, suggests research from Northwestern University. Why? It raises your vitamin D levels and this again helps boost your metabolism. Most people who struggle with their weight are vitamin D deficient.

7. Sit Less, Stand More

By choosing to stand more and sit less you can naturally burn more calories, shows a 2012 study in the Journal of Physical Activity & Health. If possible trade out your work desk to one of those that can be raised to a standing position.

8. Replace Energy Drinks

You would do well to replace energy drinks with plenty of green tea. Most energy drinks are loaded with chemicals and excessive amounts of caffeine and sweeteners. Some can even cause issues such as high-blood pressure, anxiety and insomnia.

9. Laugh Every Day

Laughing as little as 10 minutes a day can help you burn 10 – 20% more calories and boost your metabolism. Find fun ways to add more laughter into your life and let your metabolism thank you.

  7. I work from home and I have a standing desk and love it!! It is actually much better for your posture, too. I have less back, shoulder, and neck pain when I stand up for most of the day than when I sit. Great tips!
